    The Department of Fundamentals of Jurisprudence was established in 2001

    Honorable and professional professors continue to head the department:

    1-Prof. A.D. Hussein Mustafa Khudair since establishment of the department until the year 2009.

    2- Prof. A.D. Yaqoub Nazim Ahmed from 2010 to 2013.

    3- Prof. A.D. Ahmed Issa Youssef 2013 to 2014.

    Curricula and graduate courses for undergraduate.

    Student in the Department of Fundamentals of Jurisprudence obtains a bachelor’s degree at an average of (93) hours, and a total of 44 hours for the four stages, with an average of 11 subjects for each stage.

    The total number of courses since the date of the establishment of the department is /12 courses.

    Graduate Studies:

    The department grants master’s and doctorate degrees in the discipline of Jurisprudence and Shari’a Politics as follows:

    – Doctorate degree: The Department of Graduate Studies awarded a doctorate degree in the field of Fundamentals of Jurisprudence and Sharia Politics to 72 male and female students since 2001-2002.

    Master’s Degree: The Department of Graduate Studies awarded a master’s degree in fields of jurisprudence, politics and legitimacy to 92 male and female students since 1995-1996.

    The Department of Postgraduate Studies granted master’s and doctorate degrees in a course system for two consecutive sessions in 2002-2003 and in 2003-2004.

    Vision

           The science of jurisprudence is distinguished by its high standing position in Sharia sciences, such as jurisprudence, economics, financial and banking sciences, hadith sciences, faith and interpretation, and other social and human sciences, and its quest to occupy that high standing position among the university’s faculties in its various departments in particular, and Iraqi, Arab and international universities, colleges and forums in general.

    Message:

          Preparing the graduate students from this department to possess base of knowledge in principles of comparative jurisprudence and positive law, principles of Islamic legislation and rules of jurisprudence of Sharia politics, on all its doctrines and with its various legislations and its scientific and fundamentalist controls from perspective of all fundamentalist, philosophical and theological schools, through the scientific materials they study at the hands of by the best scholars in all humanitarian and social specializations and what is compatible with their work in future and what is needed by our dear country, where they will be able to work in all legal fields, such as rhetoric, advocacy, guidance, teaching, legal scientific research, and authoring and verifying manuscripts that represent an important aspect of the heritage of our Islamic nation.

    Goals

    1- Preparing qualified student cadres to filling the gap in scientific and knowledge arena.

    2- Developing curricula in line with nature of graduates’ work in fatwas and teaching, as it helps judges and law students to understand the legislative texts and apply those texts to their parts and implications of the text, which creates the legal faculty and expands jurisprudential perceptions of the recipient.

    3- Consolidating Islamic values ​​and raising students’ awareness of Islamic nation’s past and glorious history, including treasures and legacy.

    4- Keeping pace with the expansion of knowledge and development in sciences without neglecting originality of Islamic knowledge.

    5- Directing postgraduate studies to address issues that deal with the secrets of contemporary society from legal aspect in comparison with man-made law, and clarifying the status of science of jurisprudence and rules of ijtihad in legitimate politics and the purposes of legislation from that.

    6- Contribute to develop of the quality of education by using various modern technical means that have proven their feasibility in promoting learning. In finding new educational trends that lead to the activation of learner’s effectiveness.

    7Training the learner on self-learning mechanisms and ways to exploit and develop his intellectual position.
