قسم العلوم المالية والمصرفية

This department specializes in teaching Islamic sciences, particularly in the field of Islamic finance and banking, and was established in 2014. It is located on the first floor of the College of Islamic Sciences building in the Sabaa Abkar complex, and has graduated eight classes to date.

The department offers undergraduate studies in both morning and evening sessions, and accepts graduates of preparatory school from both the arts and sciences tracks through morning, evening, parallel, and special admissions. It operates on a semester system with two semesters per year. The department also provides students with a variety of services, including free tuition, student affairs, a library, and sports and extracurricular activities.

The department is headed by Professor Anwar Farhan Awad, with Dr. Ghassan Karim Abdul serving as the department's rapporteur. The department awards a Bachelor of Science degree in Islamic Studies, with a general specialization in Islamic Studies and a specific specialization in Islamic Finance and Banking. This opens up employment opportunities for its graduates in government ministries, particularly the Ministry of Education, as teachers, as well as in private and public banks.

The department’s vision is focused on striving to be a distinguished local and global academic landmark in expressing the Islamic banking and financial sector; contributing to the development of Iraqi banking and supplying the various economic sectors with highly efficient outputs.

Message:

The department’s mission is to prepare qualified personnel specializing in Islamic financial and banking sciences, contributing to meeting the labor market’s urgent need for this important specialization, and working to support Islamic banking institutions, and various religious, academic and educational institutions with highly qualified specialists in scientific, advisory and practical fields, in accordance with academic quality and accreditation standards.

Preparing highly competent specialists in Islamic finance and banking from both scientific, economic, and legal perspectives, to join the labor market and highlight the pioneering role of the Islamic economy.
Building a scientific and human base to support the Islamic finance and banking sector, which is one of the main drivers for achieving the desired societal economic development within practical Islamic frameworks.
Developing the capabilities of workers in the fields of Islamic banking and finance and Islamic economics to raise the level of performance of the Iraqi financial and banking sector contributes to protecting society from deviance, reforming it, solving its problems, and promoting Islamic and social values.
Preparing specialists to work in religious and educational institutions, as well as various banking institutions, to keep pace with technological development and modern work and education methods in accordance with the Islamic economic approach, and working hard to enter the prestigious global banking and academic classifications.
To provide the scientific and research fields in the areas of Islamic finance, banking and Islamic economics with specialized personnel to provide practical scientific advice to raise the level of academic, banking and Islamic economic science.
